RULES
OF CONDUCT
A.
Rules
of Fair Play
All players participating in CoedSportsla
events are expected to follow the following guidelines regarding fair play:
1. Players
will always play by the rules and in the spirit of the game.
2. Players
will respect their opponents.
3. Players
will control their temper.
4. Players
will show appreciation for good plays/performance, those of their team and of their
opponents.
5. Players
will remember that winning isn't everything, that having fun, improving skills,
making friends and doing their best are as important.
6. Players
will never argue with an opposing player when he or she calls a foul or a rule
violation. If a player disputes a call, he will let the game moderator make the
final decision and abide by the moderator’s decision.
B.
Fighting
- Zero Tolerance
1. CoedSportsLA has a Zero Tolerance Policy
regarding fighting. Any action taken by a player which is deemed an
attempt to intentionally harm another player, spectator or anyone associated
with CoedSportsLA will not be tolerated. Such actions may include, but are not
limited to attempts to punch, head butt, kick, choke, push to the ground, knock
to the ground, or throw objects at another player, spectator or anyone
associated with CoedSportsLA.
2. Any player who attempts to intentionally
harm another player, spectator or anyone associated with CoedSportsLA will be asked
to leave the premises and will be banned from future CoedSportsLA events for two
weeks.
3. Any player who is successful in intentionally
harming another player, spectator or anyone associated with CoedSportsLA will
be banned from any future CoedSportsLA events for life and their actions will immediately
be reported to law enforcement.
4. Actions
taken by a player solely to defend him or herself, or defend someone else, from
imminent harm will not be deemed to be in violation of the Zero Tolerance
Policy, as long as the defensive actions taken are immediately terminated once
the threat of harm has ended.
C.
INAPPROPRIATE
CONDUCT THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE FIGHTING
As can happen from time to time, players can
become passionate while participating.
Players must understand that during the
course of a game, one player may unintentional cause harm to another. For
example, during basketball, one player may accidently strike another with an
elbow while attempting to retrieve a rebound. During soccer, one player may
accidently knock down another player while trying to retrieve the ball.
Also, a player may passionately believe that an
opponent has committed a violation with disregard to another player’s well-being.
Such passion, however, can never be allowed
to escalate into any type of physical altercation; therefore, the following
rules shall apply to all CoedSportsLA events:
1. At
all CoedSportsLA sponsored events; there will be at least one CoedSportsLA
moderator who will be in charge of signing players in and collecting game fees,
if applicable.
2. During
the event, the moderator has the final word regarding the rules, the play of
the game and any other issues that may relate to the event.
3. Should
any player have any complaints regarding the event itself or fellow players,
he/she is to notify the moderator immediately.
4. It
may occur during the course of a game that two or more players may start to
make disparaging/insulting remarks to a teammate or opponent. Such
disparaging/insulting remarks are considered a violation of the Rules of
Fair Play.
5. It
may occur during the course of a game that a player may start to push/shove a
teammate or opponent, either in violation of the rules of the sport being
played, in retaliation for a perceived violation of the rules of the sport
being played or due to the fact that this player is simply a jerk. Such pushing
or shoving is considered a violation of the Rules of Fair Play.
6. Should
the moderator conclude that the violations of the Rules Of Fair Play, described
in the previous two paragraphs (paragraphs 4 & 5), could potentially
escalate into a situation where someone could be harmed, the moderator has the
authority to immediately stop the game and warn the offending player to stop
the violation or risk being removed from the game.
7. Once
the offending player has been warned, if he or she continues the violation, the
following will occur:
a. Disparaging/Insulting
Remarks
i. If the
offending player continues to make disparaging/insulting remarks, the moderator,
if he believes it is warranted, MAY have
the offending player sit out a portion of the event until the moderator
believes the offending player will no longer make such remarks. If the
offending player refuses to sit out the event as instructed by the moderator,
he will immediately be asked to leave the premises.
ii. Players are
not allowed to make any types of threats of physical violence against an
opponent or teammate. If the offending player continues to make
disparaging/insulting remarks and the remarks are deemed a threat, either
through words or physical gestures, the offending player WILL BE removed from the event and instructed to leave the premises.
iii. If the
offending player refuses to leave the premises, he or she will be considered a
trespasser and law enforcement may be contacted in order that the offending
player can be removed from the premises.
iv. Please note
that CoedsportsLA shall deem any threats made against a participant, or anyone
associated with CoedsportsLA, as serious and such threats may be reported to
law enforcement.
b. Pushing/Shoving
i. If the offending player continues to push
or shove, the offending player will
be removed from the event and instructed to leave the premises. If he
or she refuses to leave the premises, as instructed by the moderator, he or she
will be considered a trespasser and law enforcement may be contacted in order
that the offending player can be removed from the premises.
By
becoming a member of CoedSportsLA, you agree:
1. To
abide by the Rules of Fair Play.
2. To
abide by the Zero Tolerance Policy regarding fighting.
3. To
allow any disputes that may occur during the course of an Event to be decided
by the Moderator in change of the Event.
4. If
you disagree with the decision of the Moderator, you will abide by the decision
at the time it is rendered and contact CoedSportsLA via e-mail to address your
concerns.
